P.P.Kandasamy

Mr. Kandasamy was born in the panappalayam village as the 6th son of Mr. Pazhani and Mrs.Maaratha in a family of 7 siblings. Mr. Kandasamy was the first member in the village to venture out and get trained under British engineers of those days. He started out as an Ambulance driver in the Indian Army and has travelled all over india helping Indian soldiers of his times. He was one of the best drivers of his time. He left his service in the army to reunite with his family. He then started the Cycle company ‘Tamil Nadu cycle works’ with only the tool kit, knowledge and his courage he earned while working for the Army. He later started a Taxi company and a power loom during his tenure. He is well known among the textile people of Coimbatore and was the first one to install power loom in Palladam area. He has never shyed away from technology or bringing about advanced changes, not only for himself and his family, but also for the entire village. He was the first to be able to provide cycle renting options to the youth and working population of the village, who relied on bulklack carts for most of their lives. He was the first person to bring Diesel power motors and pumps to the farming practice in his farms. He was always courageous and never feared failiure. Failiure never stopped him from trying new things or tapping into an opportunity. He would take women in labour to hospitals for free, and also bring doctors from hospitals to the homes of the women in labour and help them deliver healthy babies. The services he rendered to his society far beyond their kith and kin cannot be listed in meagre words and so, we the grand children of Mr. Mrs Kandasamy wish to perpetuate their ideas of humanitarian service to as many humans as possible, not just today but far beyond our times as well.
